Green homes and businesses across Scotland will be opening their doors this October giving people a chance to see how renewables systems and energy efficiency improvements can reduce fuel bills.
From a typical family home to a purpose built eco-home, there’s a variety of properties to explore. As well as homes, you can visit green businesses, to see how they reduce their costs by using resources efficiently.
The free Green Network open days will provide a unique opportunity to hear about actual costs and savings from people who have adopted certain measures - as well as offering invaluable tips and advice that could help save money. Renewable energy sources are a great way to provide energy for your home or business and are an ideal alternative to fossil fuelled systems.
Let people who already use energy effectively show you how they reduced their carbon footprint and save money every day.
To help homeowners the Scottish Government funds the Home Energy Scotland renewables loan scheme. This zero interest loan offers up to £10,000, to help with the cost of installation. UK Government schemes, the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), mean you could qualify for payments for the energy you generate. Free impartial advice from a specialist home renewables advisor is also available – they can provide advice over the phone or even visit your home to assess which system is right for you and your property.
